Good vs. Evil: Jasa Harris

The concepts of good and evil are all based on someone’s perception of someone or something else. This can best be exemplified by looking at pretty much any conflict. For example, during the Revolutionary war the colonists saw the British as the “evil” ones who undermined them and treated them unfairly, but the British saw themselves as the “good” and the colonists as “evil” for turning against them and not fully supporting them during their struggles. In this case an argument can be made for both sides on who was “good” and who was “evil”. The uncertainty surrounding which role each side plays in this conflict perfectly explains the concepts of good and evil. I like to believe most all people are good who sometimes do things that go against their character. And although there are people who do this more often than others this doesn’t necessarily constitute them as evil. Not one thing or person is universally seen as good or evil, and because of that good and evil are just ideas that are projected onto people by those of opposing beliefs and values.
