Tim Burton
The Corpse Bride and Alice in Wonderland
Tim Burton’s movies always have two things in them; Johnny
Depp and a certain level of weirdness. Take for example Alice in Wonderland;
it’s a good movie but right from the start it has Tim Burton plastered all over
it. It has Jonny Depp playing a lunatic hatter that dances weirdly and has more
makeup than a high school chick. It has Snape from Harry Potter playing a
stoned caterpillar. I love the movie in general (it’s a fantastic movie) but
Tim Burton doesn’t hesitate to scrawl his telltale signs throughout the movie. Another
classic Butonesque movie is The Corpse Bride. It’s a good Claymation about a
guy who ends up marrying a dead chick. That guy turns out to be Johnny Depp and
everything again is very creepy. In particular, the exaggerated features of the
living bride’s parents betray the movie as being a Burton classic. Again The
Corpse Bride is a good movie, and I have nothing against Tim Burton as a director,
but his style is the same in all his movies.
