Zach Wolfe #9

I believe there is a time for war, and that is when a country or group of people are directly targeted by another group. For example, if North Korea bombed the United States, the United States government has a responsibility to go to war with North Korea to protect its people and make sure that such an event never occurs again. That being said, I don't think war is morally right because innocent people do not deserve to die for the actions of others. They have no control over the situation and they should not be punished for it. Back to my North Korea example, if Kim Jong-un bombed the United States, he should be the one to serve the consequences, not his soldiers. Although, if his soldiers were highly loyal and wanted to be part of this hypothetical war, then that's their choice and it's not my place to criticize. Soldiers may want to serve their country, but they do not need to do so under the circumstances that their leader chose to pick a fight with another country when conflict was unnecessary. The only alternative to war would be for the two sides to peacefully negotiate over their grievances that they have of the other side. Both would need to be willing to compromise or otherwise we end up with war again.
