Flying Turkeys- Cassie Adams

Thanksgiving in my family is almost the stereotypical thanksgiving day. We all wake up early in the morning and begin cooking. Turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, stuffing, pumpkin pie all the traditional fixings. And some family favorites like pineapple casserole and celery and cream cheese. My entire family gathers at my house, including my father and stepmother and some or her relatives. We take turns passing around the dishes and filling out plates. It is the perfect picture of an American thanksgiving. But, just as the eating stops and the talking starts, everything falls to pieces. The inevitable argument between my father begins. It is always about politics and it always involves raised voices and many attempts by my other relatives to change the topic. Eventually we all get tired of mediating the aguement and move to the living room to let them finish whatever argument they're having at the time. After  a while, they join rejoins us and things go back to normal as we eat pie and discuss less controversial topics.
