What's it good for? -Cassie Adams

War is an unfortunate reality in our society. In an ideal world, all of our problems would be solved through reason and compromise and there would be no war or violence. But it isn't always easy for two people with opposing views to come to an agreement. Often, war is simply a choice between the lesser of two evils. There have been many situations in history that probably could have been handled in a better way and did not have result in war. But I do not think that war will ever be entirely eradicated. I do think that we should strive to deal with issues in a nonviolent way and avoid war and conflict whenever possible. For example, Martin Luther King advocated for a nonviolent protest against the injustices done to African Americans. This peaceful approach to the Civil Rights movement was successful, but did not support violence.
